How to replace a damaged Credit Card?
Credit Cards can sometimes get damaged due to rough use or accidents. At times, the chip Credit Cards can sometimes get damaged due to rough use or accidents. At times, the chip on the Credit Card gets damaged due to wear and tear. At other times, the magnetic section on the back of the Card is disfigured. A damaged Credit Card may not function as desired and should be changed and replaced with a new Credit Card.
You can easily get a damaged card replaced with a new Credit Card with HDFC Bank. The card number and CVV will remain the same, and all the benefits and reward points will also be transferred to your new Credit Card. The bank charges a fee to replace the damaged Credit Card.
Credit card replacement is a simple process. Firstly, inform the bank of the damaged Credit Card. You can call the Customer Care number and report that your Credit Card has been damaged. The bank will then hotlist the damaged Credit Card.
Once you report the damaged Credit Card, you can raise a request with the bank to replace the damaged Credit Card with a new one. The new replacement Credit Card will be sent to your registered postal address.

You can also visit the HDFC Bank branch closest to you and report your damaged Credit Card. The Relationship Manager at the branch will then provide you with an application for a new Credit Card. After filling in your name, Credit Card number, and contact details in the form, duly sign it and submit the same at the branch.
You can also download the application form, fill it up, sign it, and send it to the bank. The letter should be addressed to the HDFC Bank Cards Division, PO Box Number 8654, Thiruvanmiyur PO, Chennai 600041.
Furthermore, as per the new mandated RBI rule, as an HDFC Bank customer, your Credit and Debit Card details saved on any merchant website/app will get deleted to ensure enhanced card security. To pay each time, you must enter your full card details or opt for tokenisation. The current date for tokenisation has been extended to June 30, 2022.
How to pay for a replacement Credit Card?
HDFC Bank charges Rs 100 for issuing a new Credit Card. When you apply for a new card, the fee is charged on your Credit Card. You then need to make a physical payment for the new card. You can authorise the bank to charge you Rs 100 on your new Credit Card by clicking the box in the application form for a new card. If you wish, you can make a payment of Rs 100 against a receipt for the new Credit Card.
