The FASTag uses RFID technology to make toll payments directly from a prepaid account linked to it. It is affixed on your vehicle’s windscreen and enables quicker toll stops. Seven Tips for First-Time Users

  1. You can get FASTag account at any of the Point of Sale (POS) locations / HDFC Bank authorised Agent Sales offices. You can also do FASTag online registration here.

  2. For FASTag new registration, you need to provide your KYC document, registration certificate (RC) of your vehicle, passport-size photograph, Pan Card (mandatory), address and ID proof (a valid licence would be enough for address and ID proof). To create a wallet with Full KYC, it is essential for the customer to provide all KYC documents or they can create a MIN KYC with the Pan Card.

  3. Once your account is ready, you can register FASTag by logging in to the customer portal and generate your user ID and password. Retail users can use this, and corporate users can use this.

  4. Enter your customer ID, or Cust ID, in the `User ID’ field. This ID will be mentioned in the Welcome Mailer sent to the registered email ID/mobile number. HDFC Bank sends you the welcome kit at your registered mailing address. You can use any of these four, RFID number, Wallet ID, Vehicle ID (vehicle number) or phone number to get started.

  5. After that, you will have to enter your mobile phone number and click on `Generate OTP’. Once you use the OTP to validate, you will have to set your password. After that, you’re all set to use the portal.

  6. The customer portal will allow you to manage account details, make service requests, do payments and top-ups, and obtain reports and statements.

  7. To recharge, select the wallet ID to be renewed, and enter the amount you want. For a MIN KYC Customer the recharge limit per month is Rs. 10000/- and for a Full KYC Customer, the limit at any given point is Rs. 100000/-. You can recharge using HDFC Bank Credit/Debit Card, HDFC Bank NetBanking, Other Bank Credit/Debit Card or Other Bank NetBanking.


Where can you use FASTag?

You can use FASTag at over 525 poll plazas at national highways across the country. There will be constant additions to the list of toll plazas in the future. To get the current list where you can use FASTag, click here.

There are specific lanes demarcated for FASTag, so you can use them to zip through without any stops.


Remember that those living within 10km of a toll plaza can avail of concessions. You will need to provide documents providing proof of residence to the POS. Once verified, you can avail of the concession on the FASTag assigned to your vehicle.


FASTag charges
