HDFC Bank Parivartan inaugurates its first ‘Learning Corner’ in Gurugram for underprivileged children
Gurugram, February 22, 2024: HDFC Bank, India's leading private sector bank has partnered with Chidagni Foundation, and its consortium partners - Pratham and Naya Savera to celebrate International Book Giving Day with a donation drive called HDFC Bank Parivartan ‘Bookathon’. The collaborative collection efforts from January 10-31 led to a books and stationery donation drive across 400 branches and 15 corporates clients from in and around Gurugram.
The initiative, conducted under HDFC Bank's flagship CSR program #Parivartan, went beyond simply donating books. It culminated in the creation of a ‘Learning Corner’ from the proceeds of the Bookathon, at RK Public School in Nathupur, Gurugram. This dedicated space, filled with donated course books, storybooks, and stationery, aims to enrich the learning experience in budget schools. It is the first of many such ‘Learning Corners’ that the bank aims to launch in budget schools.
The books and stationery drive garnered an overwhelming response, demonstrating the collective power of donors and recipients in aligning with HDFC Bank's "Education for All" vision.
The donation drive as well as the ‘Learning Corner’ has added value to the lives of underprivileged children, aiding equal right to education. The inauguration of the Learning corner coincided with the International Book Giving Day on 14th February’ 2024. The first of its kind center was inaugurated at RK Public School, Nathupur, Gurugram. The ‘Learning Corner’ comprised donated course books, story books and stationery which could add value to children’s education.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushik, Senior VP – Retail Branch Banking, HDFC Bank, emphasised HDFC Bank's commitment to empowering the next generation. He stated, "Empowering the next generation is not just a goal, it's our responsibility. With every innovative program, every supportive infrastructure project, HDFC Bank walks alongside the youth, building a better tomorrow. I would like to extend my gratitude to our corporate clients, customers and employees who came together to make this initiative a reality."
Ms. Kadambary Tiku, Principal of RK Public School, said, "This Learning Corner will be a treasure trove of knowledge and inspiration for our students. We are deeply grateful to HDFC Bank and its partners for this thoughtful initiative."
The bank already has a long history of supporting various initiatives, including teacher training, scholarships, career guidance, infrastructure support, and motivating tribal girls through sports. Cumulatively, the initiative will benefit 20,160+ teachers, 2,830+ schools, 2.13+ crore students also providing support for 21,000+ individual scholarships.
