Protect your Aadhaar: Lock / Unlock biometrics on UIDAI portal​

UIDAI provides an option to residents to lock and unlock their Biometric using UIDAI website and mAadhaar mobile application. Customers can use this facility to lock their Biometric to secure their Aadhaar and Aadhaar linked Bank account. This will prevent misuse of Aadhaar.​

Steps for customer to lock their biometrics:

Step 1: Visit UIDAI website / Login to mAadhaar App^*​

Step 2: Enter Aadhaar Number / VID​

Step 3: Enter Captcha and OTP

Step 4: Lock / Unlock Biometrics​

*mAadhaar App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store​

Note: UIDAI also provides Biometric Lock/Unlock facility using SMS services by sending SMS at 1947 as per prescribed UIDAI format​​​​​​​​
