Coverage

Here are the details of the coverage for Two Wheeler Insurance policy:

  • Loss of or Damage to the Vehicle Insured:

    Loss of or damage to your vehicle caused by any one of the following events:
  • Accident by external means
  • Burglary, house break-in or theft
  • Fire, explosion, self-ignition, lightning
  • Terrorism, riots, strikes, malicious acts
  • Transit by road, rail, inland waterways, air or lift
  • Earthquake, flood, storm, landslide or rockslide

  • Liability To Third Parties:

    The policy would also cover any legal liability arising out of injury to or death of a third party and property damage of a third party in case of an accident involving your vehicle.

  • Personal Accident Cover For Owner-Driver:

    The two-wheeler insurance policy also provides for a mandatory Personal Accident Cover for Owner Driver for an amount of Rs. 1 Lac covering Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability.

  • Sum Insured:

    The two wheeler insurance coverage for your Vehicle would depend on the manufacturer's listed selling price less depreciation for each year or the IDV (Insured's Declared Value). The IDV would be the maximum amount payable in the event of a claim for Total Loss / constructive total loss.

As per the Motor Vehicle Act, it is mandatory to buy a Liability only policy without which one cannot use the vehicle on road.

A comprehensive insurance policy provides protection to your two wheeler due to any impact damage, fire, theft, earthquake etc. In addition to this, it provides cover against any third party liability in term of death, bodily injury and third party property damage.

5. Is comprehensive bike insurance a mandatory policy?

No, it is not mandatory to have a comprehensive bike insurance policy. According to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, it is compulsorily to ride any vehicle with a valid third party insurance policy. However, it is advisable to have a comprehensive two wheeler insurance policy to get full fledge coverage for your vehicle. Also comprehensive bike insurance policy comes along with the benefits provided by third party two wheeler insurance in addition to coverages for theft, fire, natural calamity and other unforeseen events.

6. What is Zero depreciation cover or bumper to bumper coverage?

Zero depreciation is an add-on cover and has to be purchased by paying additional premium. It offers complete coverage to your two wheeler without factoring into depreciation. For instance, if your vehicle is badly damaged, then you don’t need to pay for any depreciation charge and will be eligible for full claim amount subject to terms and conditions of the policy. Applicable for 1 year policy.

7. How does emergency assistance programme work?

Emergency assistance is an add-on cover and has to be purchased by paying additional premium. It has multiple benefits like breakdown assistance, tyre replacement, towing, fuel replacement etc which can be availed during the policy duration. Customers need to call up the customer care number mentioned on the policy for availing these benefits. Applicable for 1 year policy.

8. What happens when I wish to renew my expired policy?

You can easily renew your expired policy online. No inspection is required and you may simply buy the policy online. Once the payment is made, you will receive the policy copy.

9. What happens to my No Claim Bonus while renewing an expired policy?

No Claim Bonus is valid upto 90 days from the previous policy expiry date. If the policy is not renewed within 90 days, No Claim Bonus will become 0% and no benefit shall be passed on to the renewed policy.

10. What is NCB Retention Cover?

This add-on cover retains your No Claim Bonus even after you have raised a claim for damage caused to your parked vehicle due to external impact or any calamity such as flood, fire etc. This cover not only protects your NCB earned so far, but also takes it to the next NCB slab. It can be claimed for a maximum of 3 times during the policy period.

11. What do you mean by Constructive Total Loss?

The Insured Declared Value (IDV) is the maximum amount of sum assured fixed by the insurance company, according to the present market value of the vehicle. Sometimes, the overall repair cost exceeds 75% of the vehicle’s IDV,and then, the insured bike is treated as a Constructive Total Loss claim.

12. What is Road Side Assistance? When should I opt for the Road Side Assistance service?

Roadside assistance is an add-on cover that comes to your rescue when you are stranded on the road in case of a mechanical breakdown. This has to be purchased by paying additional premium. One can avail 24*7 road side assistance for breakdown, tyre replacement, towing, fuel replacement etc. by contacting the customer care.

13. Can I choose not to claim if the damage is minimal? What do I gain out of it?

When a policyholder doesn’t make any claims during the policy period, he/she is rewarded with a No Claim Bonus (NCB). Now, this discount can range from 15% to 50%, depending upon your track record of not making a claim. While making a claim for massive damages serves the whole purpose of taking insurance, if you let go of small damages, you can avail a decent discount in the form of NCB. So, it’s advisable to pay for minor repairs instead of making a claim and losing that NCB, which by the way, only increases with every passing year.
