- Plant set up with the capacity building exercise for a potential third Covid wave
- PSA plant technology developed by DRDO can support up to 195 beds
Jalalabad, September 28, 2021: HDFC Bank, under its flagship CSR programme Parivartan, installed a medical oxygen generation plant at Jalalabad Civil Hospital to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure against a potential third wave of COVID-19. The plant uses pressure swing absorption (PSA) technology developed by DRDO for separating oxygen from air having purity of 93±3%. It has a capacity to generate 57.6 cubic meter per hour, 960 litres per minute. The plant can support up to 195 beds at rate of 5 litres per minutes.
The plant was inaugurated by Jalalabad MLA Shri Raminder Singh Awla in the presence of several dignitaries. Mr Arvinder Pal Singh Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner of Fazilka; Mr Sagar Setia, ADC-Development; Mr Ravinder Singh Arora, SDM – Jalalabad were present along with HDFC Bank officials Mr Vivek Dhoda, Circle Head – Bathinda; and Mr Rattan Singh, Zonal Head. Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Mr Raj Bahadur was also present.
“HDFC Bank is with the nation in fighting covid and supporting frontline workers,” said Mr Vivek Dhoda, Circle Head - Bathinda, HDFC Bank. “The Bank is conscious about the hardships people are going through during this pandemic. We have extended every possible help under our flagship CSR programme Parivartan. Apart from providing scholarships to students impacted by COVID, and training youth, farmers and women in different vocations, the Bank is proud to strengthen the state’s preparedness for a possible third wave.”
The oxygen plant will make the government hospital self-sufficient in supporting 195 beds and eliminate dependence on cryogenic tankers to transport oxygen from far off places.
#Parivartan has been a catalyst in making a difference in the lives of millions of people through its interventions in the areas of rural development, education, skill development and livelihood enhancement, healthcare & hygiene and financial literacy.
