Jalalabad, September 28, 2021: HDFC Bank, under its flagship CSR programme Parivartan, installed a medical oxygen generation plant at Jalalabad Civil Hospital to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure against a potential third wave of COVID-19. The plant uses pressure swing absorption (PSA) technology developed by DRDO for separating oxygen from air having purity of 93±3%. It has a capacity to generate 57.6 cubic meter per hour, 960 litres per minute. The plant can support up to 195 beds at rate of 5 litres per minutes.

The plant was inaugurated by Jalalabad MLA Shri Raminder Singh Awla in the presence of several dignitaries. Mr Arvinder Pal Singh Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner of Fazilka; Mr Sagar Setia, ADC-Development; Mr Ravinder Singh Arora, SDM – Jalalabad were present along with HDFC Bank officials Mr Vivek Dhoda, Circle Head – Bathinda; and Mr Rattan Singh, Zonal Head. Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Mr Raj Bahadur was also present.

The oxygen plant will make the government hospital self-sufficient in supporting 195 beds and eliminate dependence on cryogenic tankers to transport oxygen from far off places.
