HDFC Bank Credit Card 365 Days Activation Guidelines

As per the RBI Master Directive Guidelines, HDFC Bank will intimate all Credit Card customers in case of inactivity on the Credit Card during the past 365 days. On the 365th day of inactivity, we will provide you an additional 30-day grace period to activate your card. The bank will send you a notice about the 30-day additional grace period on the 365th day of inactivity. In case you do not activate the Credit Card during these 30 days, the bank will initiate a request for permanent card closure on your behalf on the 395th day in accordance with the ‘Master Direction – Credit and Debit Card – Issuance and Conduct Directions, 2022’ dated April 21, 2022,realised by The Reserve bank of India (RBI).

In case you choose not to activate your Credit Card through one of the below-mentioned modes, HDFC Bank will be obligated to close the card permanently, as per the Master Directive Guidelines.

  • Through Credit Card usage:

  • Reward points redemption

Redeem the reward points on your card, if any, to keep your card active​​​​​​​

  • Setting Credit Card PIN :

         -  Through IVR – As an HDFC Bank Credit Cardholder, you can set your 4-digit Credit Card PIN by calling IVR No. 1860 266 0333. Upon calling the IVR, you need to input your card number, validate it through OTP and set your preferred PIN.


        -   Through NetBanking/MobileBanking​​​​​​​ – Log in to your HDFC Bank NetBanking Account (or MobileBanking App) and locate the ‘Cards’ tab. Choose the Change PIN option and set your preferred PIN. This facility is available only for customers holding HDFC Bank Savings, Salary, and Current Accounts.

      -    Through ATM - You can also call our IVR to get the OTP (One Time Password) on your registered mobile number for PIN generation at the ATM. Simply insert your Credit Card at the HDFC Bank ATM and on the language selection screen, create your new ATM PIN using the OTP option.


    • Enabling your online, contactless and international transactions :

      HDFC Bank allows you to enable online, contactless and international transactions on your Credit Card in many different ways, including:


            -  Through MyCards – You simply need to visit Mycards.hdfcbank.com log in through OTP and link your Credit Card. Just click on the "Card Control" tab to enable online, contactless and/or international transactions in seconds.

            -  Through Whatsapp Banking – You can save the number 7070022222 on your phone and send us a WhatsApp message saying "Manage My Credit Card" to enable your card. Alternatively, you can click on the link https://wa.me/7070022222?text=Manage%20my%20credit%20cards

            -  Through Eva – You can visit the HDFC Bank website and click on  https://www.hdfcbank.com/?query=manage%20my%20credit%20card to enable your card through our online personal assistant, EVA. Just choose your preferred transactions to enable the card.


    • Through Credit Card usage :
        

      You can keep your Credit Card active and enabled all year long simply by using it at least once a year for any 1 payment or a purchase transaction of any value.



    • By giving missed call :

      You can prevent the closure of your your Credit Card by giving us a missed call on 9966039997. The bank will consider the missed call as your consent to keep your card active.


    • SmartPay Registration:
         
      You can add billers to your HDFC Bank Credit Card and register for SmartPay by giving standing instructions on your Credit Card.

What will happen if not activated within 30 days?
​​​​​​​

In case you do not activate your HDFC Bank Credit Card during the 30-day grace period, HDFC Bank will be obligated to close your Credit Card per RBI norms. As such, you will be unable to use it any further, and you will not be allowed to reactivate it. You can however, apply for a fresh Credit Card with HDFC Bank in future simply by contacting us.
